Will Paul George be suspended for Game 7?

The NBA has a tough decision ahead following a minor scuffle between Indiana Pacers guard George Hill and Atlanta Hawks forward Mike Scott on Thursday night. During the mix up, which resulted in double technical fouls, Pacers star Paul George came off of the bench and looked to make his way onto the court.

George was quickly stopped by an assistant coach and directed back to the bench, but according to the NBA rules George should be suspended.

That would leave the Pacers without their star for a crucial Game 7.

“During an altercation, all players not participating in the game must remain in the immediate vicinity of their bench,” the NBA rulebook states. “Violators will be suspended, without pay, for a minimum of one game and fined up to $50,000.”

We have seen players suspended for steps onto the court before, so it will be interesting to see how NBA commissioner Adam Silver handles his latest big decision.

Many believe that George should not be kept off the court for the final game of the series, but the letter of the law suggests that he should and will be. We will just have to wait and see what the league ultimately decides.
