Paul Simon, Edie Brickell spat stemmed from shoving match, her mom calling police: attorney

The famed singer and his wife were in court Monday over the Saturday dispute at their New Canaan, Conn., home, in which the two apparently shoved each other during an argument and Brickell’s mother, who was present, called police. A judge let the two leave court without putting in place a protective order.

Kevin Mazur/WireImage Paul Simon and his wife, Edie Brickell, were arrested after a spat in their New Canaan, Conn., home on Saturday night.

Singer Paul Simon and his songbird spouse held hands and faced the music together Monday after they were busted for a spat that got physical at their Connecticut house.
Dressed in a navy blue suit and a green fedora that he took off before taking the stand, Simon admitted to a judge that he and Edie Brickell hit some troubled marital waters, but insisted “both of us are fine together.”
“We’re going to go home and watch our son play baseball,” Simon said in the Norwalk, Conn., courtroom where he and Brickell were arraigned on disorderly conduct charges. “We had an argument, which is atypical of us. Neither of us has any fear, or any reason to be threatened.”
