Pirate Bay: What's Next for File-Sharing Website After Sweden Police Raid

PHOTO: The Pirate Bay website has been shut down by Swedish authorities.

The Pirate Bay, a controversial file-sharing website that has survived for more than a decade, was knocked offline following a police raid in Sweden.
The raid marked the first time in a while the site had been knocked offline instead of being blocked by Internet Service Providers in various countries.
Swedish police said they raided servers on Tuesday belonging to The Pirate Bay after being prompted by a complaint by the Rights Alliance, a group targeting cyber crime, according to the Associated Press.
Peter Sunde, a co-founder of the website who is no longer involved, expressed indifference and wrote on his blog that he is "not been a fan of what TPB has become."
"It feels good that it might have closed down forever, just a real shame the way it did that," he wrote. "A planned retirement would have given the community time and a way to kick off something new, something better, something faster, something more reliable and with no chance of corrupting itself. Something that had a soul and could retain it."

Michael Rooker Talks Yondu’s Role in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2′

Michael Rooker Interview Guardians of the Galaxy Michael Rooker Talks Yondus Role in Guardians of the Galaxy 2

As soon as James Gunn got the job of writing and directing Guardians of the Galaxy, fans immediately began wondering how (not if) he’d work in his friends and people he trusts into the movie. It was a key talking point when we met him on set as well during production. His brother Sean Gunn played a pair of crucial roles, fan-favorite Nathan Fillion had a small cameo (in voice only) and longtime collaborator Michael Rooker got himself a major role as Yondu Udonta, one of the original Guardians in the Marvel Comics.
Alongside the main cast, Rooker’s Yondu is one of the few certain elements returning for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 in May 2017 and we had the chance to chat with him about the experience and what comes next for the lovable, if questionable, blue-skinned alien pirate.

Our own Andrew Dyce jumped on the phone to chat with Rooker with Guardians of the Galaxy releasing on home video, and in their conversation, we cover how his longtime friend James Gunn told him early that he’d write a role for him and how they together shaped this version of Yondu. We also chat about Star-Lord’s (Chris Pratt) mysterious father figure, whether Yondu can be considered a hero or a villain, his relationship with Peter Quill and what he thinks about Yondu coming to Earth and meeting The Avengers.

Panthers' Cam Newton involved in car accident

HARLOTTE -- Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is in fair condition after a two-vehicle accident and he will remain in the hospital overnight for observation, the Panthers said this afternoon.
A group of reporters, including eight TV cameras, gathered outside the main entrance of Carolinas Medical Center a few miles from the accident scene. Hospital spokesman Scott White referred all questions about Newton's condition to the team.

Newton was taken by ambulance after his truck flipped over on a bridge near Bank of America Stadium. Police said he and the driver of a second vehicle "were both transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating the cause of the wreck."
According to ESPN, citing a "source," Newton suffered no fractures, just scrapes and bruises.
The Twitter account of the Charlotte Observer's Jonathan Jones said he confirmed that Newton was the only person in his Dodge Ram truck at the time of the accident, around 12:30 p.m. ET. The account included photos of Newton being put on a stretcher, of Newton's truck being pulled upright by a tow truck and of front-end damage to a second vehicle, a dark sedan.
The Observer reported that Newton was treated for 20 minutes at the scene before being taken by ambulance. Witness Tony Douglas told the Observer that he saw a Buick sedan and the truck collide. Douglas said the truck flipped several times and came to rest on its passenger side and that he ran to the truck and saw Newton "alert" but "in pain."
Newton was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft by the Panthers after winning the 2010 Heisman Trophy at Auburn. With his passing and running, he became an instant star and made the Pro Bowl as a rookie. He also made the Pro Bowl in 2013 when he helped the Panthers to the NFC South title.
Last March, Newton had surgery to tighten loose ligaments in his left ankle. During the preseason, he sustained a hairline rib fracture during a game against the New England Patriots. He sat out the Panthers season opener.
Newton has since made 12 starts this season for the 4-8-1 Panthers, passing for 2,812 yards and 16 touchdowns with 11 interceptions. In Sunday's 41-10 victory at the New Orleans Saints, Newton passed for 226 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 83 yards and a touchdown.

VH1 Star Stephanie Moseley and Husband Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide

She was a star of VH1's NBA cheerleading drama 'Hit the Floor'

Stephanie Moseley, a star of VH1’s NBA cheerleading drama Hit the Floor, and her husband, the rapper Earl Hayes, died Monday in a suspected murder-suicide, police confirmed to PEOPLE.
Los Angeles police responded early Monday to reports of shots being fired in Park La Brea, and found Moseley, 30, and Hayes, 34, in their apartment, both with gunshot wounds.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene. The initial investigation suggested Hayes shot Moseley to death and then took his own life, police said.
“We are incredibly saddened to hear the news of the passing of Stephanie Moseley,” VH1 said in a statement. “VH1 and the entire Hit The Floor family send our thoughts and condolences to her family and friends at this difficult time.”

Ronaldo's knee dominates build-up to key USA vs Portugal Group G clash

USA and Portugal head to Manaus with a raft of sick notes and suspensions altering the prospects for Sunday's vital Group G match, and at least a couple of question marks hanging over key players – neither of whom has an obvious replacement.
Let’s start with Cristiano Ronaldo. Because as Ronaldo himself might tell us, everything starts and ends with Ronaldo. And as he has reportedly told the Portuguese medical team: "I'm the one that says whether I'm playing or not.”
It was clear that the left-knee injury Ronaldo nursed through the warm-up games was still hampering him on his arrival in Brazil and in Portugal's opening game, a dispiriting 4-0 defeat by Germany.
From the ice-packed evidence of this week’s curtailed training sessions, he is still far from fully fit. One report in Spain even had a doctor telling the Real Madrid star that the MRI on his latest setback suggested he should sit out the next two months, let alone Sunday’s game, for fear of a career-ending tendon tear. The same doctor has been cited in a Portuguese paper as denying he said anything of the sort.
If Ronaldo is at all fit, it’s hard to see Portugal not starting him in what is now a must-win game (a draw could leave their fate hanging by a goal-difference thread). Yet whatever Jürgen Klinsmann’s understandable wariness about Portugal as a wounded animal, the USA coach might prefer to take his chances against a less-than-100% Ronaldo in the testing, Amazonian conditions in Manaus, no matter how good he is.

If Ronaldo does play, it's worth remembering that his lack of impact on game day one was not just down to injury – Germany stifled his supply to perfection. From a US perspective it is worth noting that such an approach is far from the preserve of the elite, since Israel and Northern Ireland were also able to pressure Portuguese supply lines at times during qualifying.
Of course, Portugal will definitely be missing other players, the injured Fabio Coentrao and Hugo Almeida, who limped out of the Germany game, and they will also be without the suspended Pepe. While those players will be missed, Ricardo Costa and André Almeida should be able deputies in defense, and Helder Postiga will probably cover up front.
In fact it’s arguable that never mind these three, or whatever happens with Ronaldo, the absence of the USA striker Jozy Altidore will create the most significant alteration to the pattern of this game, so key is he to the Americans' preferred style of play.
The diamond midfield that Klinsmann has tried to introduce of late requires Altidore to do a lot of muscling and running up front, with Clint Dempsey free to run off him when the USA attack. When Altidore pulled up with a hamstring injury against Ghana, to be replaced by Aron Johannsson, that fact – plus the broken nose that hampered Dempsey’s breathing and movement, plus an uncharacteristically muted performance from Michael Bradley – meant that the USA found themselves under sustained pressure and without a natural outlet up front.
Altidore is definitely out for Sunday, though the other player withdrawn against Ghana due to a hamstring complaint, the central defender Matt Besler, will be available, meaning goal hero John Brooks will likely be on the bench again.
He may play a part, though. Manaus has already lived up to its reputation as a cruel venue and the USA, who made much of their familiarity with extreme conditions in the lead-up to the tournament, seemed to struggle in relatively benign conditions in Natal.
To lose one player to a hamstring injury in the first half of your opening game might seem a cruel misfortune. To lose another at half-time and see others apparently struggling with fatigue you might expect to see in extra-time in the knockout stages suggests there may be something to the persistent criticism of Klinsmann for over-training his player
